South Texas Institute for the Arts

USS Lexington

This is a museum and also an educational facility that is dedicated to the US Warship that has the same name, and it played a large role in defense of the nation for about 50 years. This ship was converted into a museum in 1992 for the preservation of history and the education of the public about the naval aviation and the critical role of this carrier of aircraft in defense of the nation.


Tourists can go on 5 tours that are self-guided around the ship and this way they can explore the eleven decks that the ship has including the lower deck, hangar deck, gallery deck, forecastle, and the flight deck

South Texas Botanical Garden and Nature Center

This place is a nature center that is community-based and it is also a public garden, and it is located on the South Staples Road.


It was built in 1987 as an educational resource and a recreational center for the public of Corpus Christi. The gardens of this place have been evolving through time to become what they are now. Today this garden includes an orchid house with over 3000 species, hibiscus, succulents, cacti, bromeliads, cycads, a modern Exhibit house and an arid garden.
